It has been a lovely start to the school year and thank you for making me feel so welcome. I have spoken with Mr. Forbes often and he has said what a wonderful community it is here – I feel so lucky to have stepped into his shoes.
We began the week with a great start at the Welcome Back Picnic organized by our Parents Association. It was a lovely Sunday afternoon spent at Chiswick House and Gardens and I have had many parents tell me it was a nice opportunity to meet new families and to have the occasion for the boys to play.
I am writing this entry after having enjoyed a lunch hour in the hall with the boys and spending the morning popping in and out of classrooms. I am so proud of the learning that has happened from the moment the boys walked into the school. We started our first day of school with an assembly where we quickly reviewed the 3C’s and started a conversation on what each of the words mean. We talked about what it might mean to have courage, curiosity and to be caring. Throughout the year, the school will continue to focus on these values and all of the boys will be experts in giving examples and demonstrating each of the 3Cs.
I am delighted to announce that, as part of Chiswick Book Festival, we are supporting a number of events taking place during next weekend’s Children’s Festival, including a talk by children’s laureate, Cressida Cowell. As I have mentioned before, literacy is passion of mine so I am thrilled that we are supporting these valuable initiatives that are geared towards making children interested in and have fun with books and words from an early age.
I am looking forward so much over the coming weeks and months to getting to know your boys and your families – I encourage you to reach out to me with any and all questions or feedback. As I told the boys during my first assembly with them, it is my job to make sure they are happy and they are learning and if those two things are not happening, I need to find a solution.
