Every two years, the parents and children choose a new charity to support, with the final choice made by democratic vote. For the academic years 2020-2022, the students and their families have voted to support Acton Homeless Concern.
In support of one of the school’s key values, ‘Care’, this school charity was chosen by our pupils as they wanted the opportunity to be able to help others less fortunate than themselves. Many children take the fundraising initiative into their own hands. In the past, individuals have made cupcakes and sold them, written, published and sold comics and made their own Sudoku challenges. One of our students even set himself his own piano challenge. Nothing speaks as loudly as a young child taking it upon themselves to help others voluntarily.
There are also several other charitable projects that the Falcons Pre-Prep support throughout the year such as the Poppy Appeal, Jeans for Genes Day and Red Nose Day. The children donate food and supplies every year for the Harvest Festival. On occasion, a class may support a local charity too, such as Reception recently hosting a tea party for their parents to support the Guardian Angels Animal Support Charity.
The Falcons Pre-Prep Parents’ Association also organise many events throughout the year to raise money for their chosen charity including quiz nights and a Superhero ‘Funathalon’.
